In the SLS/SLF series spline guides from THK, the recirculating balls on either side of the three grooves on the shaft are held in a ball cage. Thanks to the Caged Ball Technology, each individual ball runs in its own pocket. This prevents contact between the balls and reduces particle generation.
The Caged Ball Technology eliminates mutual friction and improves the running performance of the balls. As a result, the spline guide operates more quietly than versions without Caged Ball Technology and is also suitable for higher speeds. This can improve machine cycle times. Additionally, the Caged Ball Technology retains lubricant more effectively, enabling longer lubrication intervals of up to 5.000 km.
The spline nut with high torsional rigidity in the SLS series is mounted using a key connection. The spline nut in the SLF guides is shorter and features a flange for mounting purposes.
The guides in the SLS/SLF series are available in a (K) version with a hollow shaft. Other THK ball spline guides are also available with a hollow shaft.
