Nadella by Rollon Base Line

Nadella Base Line, part of the Nadella by Rollon range, is a compact linear roller guide system for machine structures subject to light to medium loads. The system combines aluminium rail profiles with steel shafts that serve as raceways. In combination with ball-bearing-mounted guide rollers, Base Line offers solutions for linear movements where low weight and a compact design are key considerations.

The carriages are made from anodised aluminium and fitted with steel guide rollers with ball bearings. Depending on the model, rails with one or two running surfaces are available. In addition, stainless steel components are available for applications where corrosion resistance is a factor.

Which versions of Base Line are available?

Within this product family, Nadella by Rollon offers two versions: Base Line DC and Base Line FWS.

Both versions use aluminium rail profiles with steel axles as running surfaces. The differences lie, amongst other things, in the rail construction and the options for combining rails, individual guide rollers and carriages.

The choice between DC and FWS therefore depends on the available installation space, the preferred method of installation and the loads that the guide must support. Accessibility for installation and maintenance may also be a factor.

What should you look out for when selecting Base Line?

When selecting the Nadella by Rollon Base Line, the load, stroke length and available installation space form the basis for the selection. The position of the centre of mass is also important. When a load acts off-centre relative to the guide, moments are generated on the guide rollers. These affect the load distribution and must therefore be taken into account during the design process.

In addition, the chosen rail configuration, the number of guide rollers and the distance between them determine how the system absorbs forces and moments. You should therefore assess not only the load-bearing capacity, but also the stiffness and stability of the overall machine structure.

In dynamic applications, speed, acceleration and cycle time also play a role. Additional forces arise during acceleration and deceleration. Particularly in the case of frequent changes of direction, the entire motion profile must be taken into account when making a selection.

The mounting structure also warrants attention. Correct alignment and adequate support of the rails help to minimise additional stress on the guide rollers. Furthermore, the mounting surfaces and the method of fixing influence the movement characteristics of the guide system.

In applications involving moisture, dust or other contaminants, the choice of materials, protection of the running surfaces, lubrication and accessibility for maintenance are important. Depending on the operating conditions, stainless steel components or additional lubrication systems may be required.
