The choice of a drive component determines the reliability of your entire machine. Since 1954, Güdel has been delivering Swiss precision in automation. At LM Systems, we translate this decades of expertise into practical solutions for your linear motion challenges. Güdel’s “Next Generation” racks are divided into three clearly defined product lines: High-End, Performance, and Basic. Below, we highlight the Güdel rack solutions for you.

High-End – maximum performance in a compact design
For applications with the highest demands on feed force and service life, the High-End line provides the ideal solution. These racks feature hardened tooth roots, resulting in an extremely high power density. This allows for significant downsizing in your design.
A High-End rack with module 2 can easily replace a Performance variant with module 3. This can save, for example, 48 kg in weight over a travel length of 30 meters. The reduced mass lowers the load on the drive system and reduces operating costs. This product line is manufactured to quality class Q6, ensuring maximum positioning accuracy.
Performance – the all-rounder for precision assembly
The Performance line represents the standard for modern machine construction. These racks are manufactured from hardened C45E carbon steel. The tooth flanks are ground with the highest precision, ensuring smooth operation and high wear resistance.
This line is ideally suited for systems with medium dynamics. Typical applications include laser cutting machines, plasma cutting systems, and press brakes. For use in humid environments, optional protective coatings are available. Like the High-End variant, this product line meets quality class Q6.
Basic – reliable drive for simple automation
The Basic line is designed for applications where cost control and functionality go hand in hand. These racks are milled and available in both hardened and non-hardened versions. The surface consists of a cold-drawn profile, making them particularly suitable for long axes in logistics applications.

Technical configuration of Güdel racks
Güdel racks are available in modules ranging from M1 to M10. You can choose between helical teeth for smooth, low-noise operation or straight teeth for direct power transmission. The components are supplied in standard lengths of 0.5 meter, 1 meter, or 2 meters.
We offer versions with mounting holes for fast and accurate assembly. For maximum flexibility in your own design, variants without mounting holes are also available. The racks are designed to perfectly match the corresponding Güdel pinions and gearboxes.
| Feature | High-End | Performance | Basic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary focus | Maximum force & downsizing | Maximum precision & smooth operation | Reliability & efficiency |
| Quality class | Q6 (ground) | Q6 (ground) | Q9 (milled) |
| Tooth treatment | Hardened flanks and tooth root | Hardened flanks | Hardened or non-hardened (milled) |
| Key advantage | Highest power density | Highest positioning accuracy | Best price–performance ratio |
| Typical applications | Heavy machining, high-load robots | Laser cutting, measuring machines | Logistics, pick-and-place |
